KWSB fails to launch e-billing system

KARACHI - Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has failed to start Electronic Billing to facilitate its consumers due to number of reasons despite the fact that IT department has developed a complete system to launch the E-billing system, The Nation learnt on Saturday.

EU: The Council of the European Union adopts simplified rules for VAT invoicing

The new Directive sets out to ensure the acceptance by tax authorities of eInvoices under the same conditions as for paper invoices and to remove legal obstacles to the transmission and storage of eInvoices. It also comprises measures to help tax authorities have their taxes paid so as to better tackle VAT fraud. These include establishing deadlines for the issuance of invoices, thus enabling speedier exchange of information on intra-European Union (EU) supplies of goods and services.

Reducing paper and postage through electronic billing is a top priority for municipalities and utilities. However, after more than 5 years, the industry average - for consumers agreeing to stop receiving paper bills - is less than 6%.
