Emergis Inc. has settled a lawsuit with U.S. power company Avista Corp. over an alleged patent infringement of Emergis' electronic invoicing and payment technology. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Emergis, a former subsidiary of Bell Canada parent BCE Inc., said Friday the suit related to a U.S. patent for an electronic receipt and payment of invoices system that it no longer offers but for which it still owns the patent.
