LEVIS, QC, Nov. 6 /CNW Telbec/ - For the third year in a row, Caisses Desjardins members are being encouraged to participate in the Desjardins Eco Friendly Statement Challenge, as part of the Earth Day program. This year, Desjardins is proud to team up with Canada Post's epost™ service to provide its members with an additional way to make their personal finance habits green. From November 1st to 30th, for every member who chooses an electronic account statement over their paper (or book) statements, including the Desjardins VISA monthly statement, Desjardins will plant a tree on their behalf. Likewise, a tree will also be planted for every Desjardins member who registers a new bill from a service provider (electricity, telephone, cable, or other services) to the epost™ service for receipt in the secured AccèsD Internet message box.
"With the help of epost™ this year, there is a even greater opportunity for action by Caisses Desjardins members who have not yet made the paperless choice with AccèsD Internet. This new initiative will help Caisses members go even further for the environment!" said Danny Desrosiers, Director, Business Development, Financial Services Division, Fédération des caisses Desjardins. The Eco Friendly Statement Challenge was a huge success in its first two years with 114,519 members showing an enthusiastic response for the project. This success resulted in the planting of 114,519 trees, nearly 115% of the three-year objective. Epost™ is Canada Post's free electronic bill presentment service that enables Canadian companies to deliver bills and other critical documents to their customers securely online. Epost™ makes it easy to receive, view and store (for up to seven years) financial statements online. Since epost™ was launched in 1999, more than four million Canadians have registered for epost™ mailboxes. Epost™ is available to all Canadians by registering through the online banking site of most major financial institutions or at canadapost.ca/epost.
