Striata Adds Iconix Sender Recognition Technology to eDocument Delivery and eBilling

on Tuesday 04 Nov 2008

Branded email allows customers to instantly recognize and verify the identity of the sender

New York – Striata, a specialist and innovator in electronic document delivery, has partnered with Iconix to enhance customer inbox sender recognition and drive further trust in statements, bills, collection notices, policies and other high volume, system-generated documents delivered securely via email. The Iconix® Truemark® service adds branded, visual identity to email, allowing recipients to instantly recognize and verify the sender before opening the message. “Most authentication technologies focus on delivery to the inbox. The Iconix solution is different in that it increases recognition and trust in the inbox,” said Jeff Wilbur, Vice-President of Marketing at Iconix.

Garin Toren, COO for Striata North America, expects the Truemark service to have a significant impact on consumer attitudes towards email. “The inbox sender recognition that Iconix provides adds significant additional trust and confirmed sender authentication. Branding of messages in the inbox eliminates guesswork regarding what is genuine and what is not.”

Benefits of the collaboration with Iconix

Recalling what led to Striata’s collaboration with Iconix, Toren describes the challenge facing high volume commercial mail. “Spam filters have become increasingly effective at filtering out junk mail, but often do not protect consumers against fraudulent emails masquerading as legitimate messages. Financial services companies are particularly vulnerable and any business sending unprotected email can be a target. As a result, consumers have become wary of commercial and transactional messages.”

Striata uses a myriad of technologies and strategies to ensure optimal deliverability of secure bills and documents. This includes bank-grade security protections that eliminate the possibility of phishing. Striata clients are experiencing impressive results: With deliverability rates over 98%, paper turn off averaging 1-2% a month, and reduced billing costs, Striata billers have experienced a significant return on investment within the first year.

“Striata’s clients are well-versed in our methodologies. By offering the Iconix Truemark service, we are adding yet another layer of intuitive security. As it allows recipients to recognize at a glance and with 100% certainty that messages are legitimate, we are encouraging all our billers to incorporate this into their eMail Bill Presentment & Payment projects,” explains Toren.

Restoring inbox trust with branded email: How it works

When an email arrives, the Truemark service uses industry standard technologies to verify the authenticity of the message, confirming that the email is from a legitimate sender. The sending company’s logo is then placed in the “From” column of the inbox, providing instant recognition and visual identification of the sender. When mousing over the company logo, an additional authentication certificate is displayed.

Recognized senders represent more than 2000 of the world’s largest brands, including eBay, PayPal, Best Buy and Dell, as well as many other leading financial and retail organizations. The Iconix solution supports more than 90% of consumer email volume and provides recognition services across all major operating systems and email clients including EarthLink, Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Mail Classic, Outlook Express and Outlook.

Sending email is increasingly a specialist field. Spam filters, content filters, authentication protocols are all developing as fast as technology allows them to.

Adding Iconix to our email authentication toolset allows us to takle yet another step towards the highest possible email delivery rates.

This is important for all customer communication (CRM) but most critical for eBilling and EBPP projects, where every email represents cash flow to the business.
