Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna today launched the e-billing programme of
the Excise Department here saying it was a step aimed at enhancing
revenue generation and achieving greater transparency.
Citing a dire
need of funds for carrying out development projects in the state, he
said the online billing mechanism in the department will lead to higher
revenue generation and more transparency. "Online billing is being
introduced in the excise department so that no irregularities take place
and the inconvenience faced by traders is reduced," Bahuguna said. He
also held a meeting with representatives of excise business fraternity
and laid emphasis on making excise policy more effective and
transparent. The Chief Minister sought suggestions from them and also
listened to their grievances. He said the excise department was also
being connected to e-governance which will make it fully computerised.
Bahuguna directed the officers to help make the excise policy more
effective and introducing online system in the department so that
permits could be released online in future. The meeting was attended by
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister D K Kotia, Principal Secretary
Finance Radha Raturi, Additional Secretary to CM and Commissioner Excise
Dilip Jawalkar and officers of NIC and Excise Department. PTI ALM SCY
