The insurance company Allstate uses a lot of paper - in 2009 it used
approximately 3.7 billion sheets, equal to approximately 450,000 trees.
So it's not surprising that the company identified paper reduction as
one of its top environmental priorities, setting a goal of reducing
overall office paper use by 25 percent by 2010. In their latest CSR
report, which was released earlier this week, Allstate is revealing that
it actually did much better, reducing its office paper use last year by
41 percent.
The IKB Leasing Group - a leading leasing company in nine European
countries - has signed up to the legally compliant e-invoicing services
from Crossgate, the expert in EDI/B2B data interchange. It gives the
company an alternative to outgoing printed invoices. In future, outgoing
invoices will be signed and sent as PDF documents to customers of the
IKB Leasing Group via Crossgate's Business Ready Network, the
transaction platform that already integrates more than 40,000 business
partners. The original invoices are stored in the e-Box, a multilingual
archive with web access and complete audit-compliance. Business partners
can optionally select to have invoice data sent directly as EDI records
to their in-house ERP system. In this way, the Crossgate solution can
be adapted to customers' requirements in a flash. In future, IKB
Leasing's French subsidiary will process its annual volume of more than
54,000 invoices via the Crossgate platform. By digitalising the invoice
process, the IKB Leasing Group aims to lower its process costs and speed
up exchanges of invoice data.
Recently Basware partnered with the Embassy of Finland in Canberra,
Australia to hold an event focused on e-invoicing and enabling a greater
level of global open commerce.
The breakfast event, held on Wednesday 24 August, welcomed attendees
from government and private industry who took part in discussions about
the way forward for e-transactions both overseas and in Australia.
The percentage of Vectren Energy Delivery (Vectren) customers using
electronic bill (eBill) delivery has nearly tripled in the last 18
months. Today, nearly 150,000 or 15% of all Vectren customers are
receiving their monthly utility bill via e-mail, eliminating the
traditional paper bill. This increase can be attributed to Vectren's
enhanced customer communication as well as the introduction of the
mobile version of Vectren.com, which allows easy access to eBill from
mobile devices.
More and more Dutch companies prefer sending electronic invoices,
instead of the paper invoice. Last year, another 15% of the Dutch
companies switched to e-invoices. Measured as the steepest growth rate
in one year, e-invoicing adoption in the Netherlands soared to an
impressive 39%. This became clear after analysing the responses in a
survey under almost 500 companies.
