MANAMA: Batelco has announced the launch of a pioneering e-billing service in Bahrain.

Batelco is the first company in the kingdom to send electronic bills directly to its customers' email accounts.

The percentage of consumers who receive bills online is growing, as is the number of people who want to receive paperless bills because of environmental concerns.

New Fiserv-funded research from Harris Interactive and The Marketing Workshop shows 24 percent of American consumers who pay bills online also receive at least one bill online each month, up from 22 percent in last year’s survey. And 58 percent of electronic bill recipients say environmental impact was important or very important in their decision to both receive and pay bills online, up from 51 percent. “Clutter reduction” and convince were also factors driving electronic presentment adoption.

Bank calls for new panel firms to sign up to diversity initiatives

Barclays has asked all of its newly-appointed panel firms to sign up to a range of diversity initiatives - expanding a pilot introduced for its main general advisory panel three years ago across some 50 firms.

General counsel Mark Harding confirmed that he has asked all of the firms on its main panel, as well as those on its 10 specialist panels, to confirm to the bank their diversity and inclusion policies, including details of how they measure and manage diversity.
