NEW DELHI: Power distribution company BSES will now provide electricity bills to its customers online and through SMS. It will send the bills through e-mails and SMS for customers' convenience.

iBurst pushes for e-billing

Although iBurst's e-billing feature has been available to subscribers since November, the wireless broadband provider recently sent out e-mails urging clients to make use of the service, in a drive to save paper.

Going green encourages customers to adopt electronic billing

"Going green" is a red hot issue for today's consumers. Consolidated Edison Co. of New York (Con Edison), recognizing this growing interest in environmental issues, made the decision to "go green" in May 2007 with a marketing campaign to promote electronic billing. The campaign, which encourages customers to receive their bills online by offering a donation to a tree-planting fund as an incentive, has proved a resounding success. During the first eight months of the campaign Con Edison has experienced a 62 percent increase in the number of e-bills activated, with customers activating more than 50,000 e-bills.

E-billing business growing by 200%: Assocham

New Delhi: The trend of E-billing is fast catching up in the metros with average households saving up to 80 hours in a year. According to a study on "e-Billing - a better option for convenience" carried out by Assocham, the e-billing business is growing by 200%. It is likely to touch Rs6.5 million by 2008-09 from the current level of Rs1.9 million.
